Come get creative at our Super-Stories children’s Makers Space in downtown Kinderhook, NY, located in the old Rock Shop at 2 Chatham Street. This space is dedicated to a combination of free and paid programming for artists of all ages, including after-school, evening, and weekend workshops. The space is also available for private art-making parties, as well as other one-day events hosted by local creatives. We will continue to host projects off-site, collaborating with public schools and other non-profits too!

After-School Art Club
Art Club is an open space for artistic exploration. Each week we offer a variety of materials and students are encouraged to come up with their own projects. This environment fosters both independent experimentation and spontaneous collaboration!

Join us this fall for Mixed Media Makers, meeting 7 Thursdays, October 8 - November 19 from 3:30 - 5:00.
In this class, students focus on exploring new materials with guided projects, some taking multiple sessions to complete!

Metal in Motion with Amelia Toelke
Explore the endless possibilities of wire in this all-ages workshop. Learn to bend, shape, hammer and texture brass and copper wire and to make a wearable piece of jewelry. The workshop will discuss specialty tools and techniques for metal working and go over different ways to connect components so that your jewelry moves with you wherever you go. Safety glasses will be required and provided.
Amelia Toelke is a visual artist whose work is rooted in the history of adornment, decoration, and material culture. An interest in public art, collaboration and teaching guides and informs her multidisciplinary practice. Toelke has taught and led workshops at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Metal Works, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Peters Valley School of Craft, Penland School of Craft, Idyllwild Arts, and SUNY New Paltz. She currently lives in her hometown, Chatham, NY where she teaches jewelry classes for students of all ages.

Spooky Stitches with Breanna Berger-Tzabar
We are thrilled to host local artist and photographer, Breanna Berger-Tzabar, for another photo embroidery workshop! In this hands-in workshop, we will learn simple stitching and threading techniques to embellish vintage photographs, merging the art of sewing with the nostalgia of old photos. We will focus on adding spooky elements in time for Halloween!

Cut Paper Creatures
In this all ages workshop, we we will use paper, drawing materials, and brass fasteners to create kinetic creatures! We will focus on breaking our characters up into distinct moving body parts, drawing each individually and then combining them by poking holes and inserting fasteners. This project is accessible for all ages and abilities, although the littlest ones may need some help with cutting!

Soulcollage with JJ Luceno
Dive into the world of images and imagination. This collage process helps us get out of our heads’and instead trust our more intuitive ways - our gut feelings and instincts, pleasure and curiosity. In this workshop you will create cards that have deeply personal meaning to you and serves as tools for rich self-discovery and reflection. Much like Tarot or medicine decks, you will leave with cards that can be used as tools to support you with insight and guidance.

Mirror Mosaics
Do you have a little collector in your house? Here’s a chance to turn all those random little objects into art with some mixed media play! In this workshop, we will build up textural mirrors by coating our wooden surfaces with paper pulp clay, made from old discarded artwork and tinted with tempera paint. We will then create whacky mosaics by pressing in small objects like beads, shells, buttons, gemstones, and whatever else we can find! Please feel free to bring along small objects such as mini plastic toys, coins, bread bag tags, etc!
